Tempest and Menarys, Tullamore, Irish Independent, 28 May 2008

Department store retailer Tempest and Menarys is opening a new flagship store later this year in Tullamore. The new outlet is expected to create up to 120 full and part-time jobs. The store will be located in the landmark, former No.1 Church Street building, in the heart of the town. The rent is €265 per sqm on a long lease.

The Northern Ireland, family managed business, has been expanding rapidly throughout Ireland, adding four stores in the last twelve months. The latest store will comprise almost 1860sqm and is due to open in November.

The building is owned by the Flanagan group of companies, who are also the owners of the Tullamore Court Hotel.

Joint agents Agar and Michael Duignan Properties acted for the Flanagan Group while Colliers Jackson-Stops advised Menarys and Tempest. Stephen McCammon of Menarys commented: "We saw Tullamore as a key element for our expansion programme."

Tempest is essentially a one-stop fashion shop for 15 to 40 year old females. Tempest stores generally operate with in-store shops operated by brands lik Jane Norman and Wallis.

It is hoped that Tempest will bring an assortment of these brands to its store in Tullamore. Menarys will offer an assortment of ladies' fashion, lingerie, accessories and also an extensive range of linens and cookware.
